Manchester United transfer news: Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Jadon Sancho, Uros Racic, Chris Smalling

Tottenham have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid this summer.

Madrid are desperate to offload Bale and will consider subsidising a portion of his £600,000 per week wages in order to facilitate the 31-year-old’s Premier League return.

Jadon Sancho remains United’s first-choice target this transfer window. However, Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre again insisted yesterday that the England international will not be sold this summer after United failed to match their £108m asking price.

Bale is interested by a move to Old Trafford, according to ESPN, but claim Spurs’ interest is more advanced, with Jose Mourinho making it clear to chairman Daniel Levy that attacking reinforcements are required.

Meanwhile, United are continuing negotiations with Madrid over full-back Sergio Reguilon, but will not match the Spanish giants £27m asking price. United have also refused to insert a buy-back clause as part of any deal.

Reguilon, who won the Europa League while on loan at Sevilla last season, “would love” to join United and personal terms would not be a sticking point, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The agents of Uros Racic have confirmed United’s interest in the Valencia midfielder, but have denied reports that a £27m bid has already been lodged for the Serbian.

Racic’s contract contains an £85m release clause, however, Valencia are desperate to offload players this summer as part of a mass clear-out.

Roma are growing increasingly frustrated with United in their pursuit of centre-back Chris Smalling and are beginning to seek alternatives, according to the Daily Mail

The former England international thrived while on loan in Serie A last season, but Roma are not willing to meet United’s £20m asking price. Smalling sat out of United’s photoshoots for the new season as he seeks to accelerate an exit.
